Ode to the Forgotten Banana

Yellow,

And just ripe enough to color my fingernail

But not so ripe as to attract the gnats

That so recently have invaded our work area.

Banana, 

How I miss you,

Waiting diligently on the counter

While I sit here morose...and a little hungry.

(I guess I should be grateful it was only my banana...I left my entire bag right by the door yesterday morning.  10-hour work days are just not in me anymore.)
